Mothers Day is the day to honor the Number One woman in everyone's life. However, Mothers Day gifts do not have to be elaborate or cost a lot. It's the thought and sentiment that counts - an acknowledgment of everything she has done and gone through for her children. This is what gifts for Mother's Day are really about.
Mothers are very special people. They not only carry a baby inside their bodies for 9 months, but they continue to care for that child for the rest of their lives, regardless of what the child does or becomes. There is no way to vacate a mothers love for her children. It is nearly impossible.
This is why we celebrate them on this one day every year. To make an attempt to show that person, that very special woman, that we love her back. That there is an appreciation for everything she has done for us. That we are happy she remains in our lives and that we would surely not be the people we are today without her.
They offer guidance in more ways than just telling their children how to behave or what to do. A mother can guide her children and teach them sometimes with just a look. They have a very unique connection with their children and this bond is never broken. This is why a material gift is sometimes just not enough to show Them how much we care.
In reality, a material gift is really nothing more than a symbol. It speaks when words are inadequate. The material gift expresses the devotion and gratitude for all those sacrifices over the years that people often find it difficult to express in actual words.
Though Mothers Day is only once a year, it is the time to celebrate the person who is the first woman in everyone's life and acknowledge everything she's done to make us who we are. Material gifts and other symbolic gestures however don't mean a thing if they don't got that swing.
The best gift of all is really quality time with the family. Show them what a great person you have become because of her nurturing and guidance. Share this not only with the children, but with the grandchildren as well. This is a great time to throw off the patriarchal oppression of the past two thousand years and return to our true roots as children of the Goddess.
Gifts for Mothers Day need not be expensive nor flashy. They don't have to cost anything at all, though that is good for commerce. The main thing is that we show our appreciation and honor the institution, which is as old as the Order Mammalia itself. These traditions keep us in touch with our mutual roots and ultimately may insure our survival as a species in the face of patriarchal onslaught.
