These days, books, films and magazines are full of sex and lead us to believe that girls have a huge sexual appetite and can climax effortlessly. So when a woman isn't able to reach an orgasm during sex they can be forgiven for believing that there is something wrong with them and in itself can cause many problems around having sex.

The reality is totally the opposite and many woman do not necessarily have an orgasm every time they have sex. They have to be in the right mood , relax and aroused in the right ways before they can climax. Medical science used to be of the mind that the vast majority of females were actually not able to climax at all but modern day science has moved on so we now have a better understanding of the sexual behaviour of a woman. We are also a much more open society so it is no longer just brushed under the carpet. Also because a woman can still conceive without an orgasm then little importance was placed on it.

There is now evidence that any woman can in fact have an orgasm given the right circumstances and also the correct ways to make her feel properly aroused, but this can be quite personal and every one is different.

A lot of young women, girls in their teens worry about their inability to orgasm, especially as their male counterparts have no problem at all. Most young women have to literally learn how to orgasm. Research suggests that most girls do not climax until they are months, even years into their sexual experience, and when they do orgasms for the first time it is mostly through masturbation and not through sex with a partner. On average a girls first orgasm is around the age of 18 but through surveys it is understood that some women can actually be in their 40's before their first climax.

Sex experts recommend that if you find having an orgasm is a problem for you, then trying to find a method through masturbation should be tried first. This way you can explore what makes your body react and so you can then offer this information to a sexual partner to hopefully reach an orgasm. Although it may be a little difficult to talk about it to start with it is certainly a better option than doing nothing.
