Do you have a sweet tooth? Would you like a healthy way to satisfy it? If your answer is yes, you are among a growing number of people wanting easy nutritious ways to be healthier. The afternoon 'sugar' drop can cause havoc with your day, but this can easily be eliminated by enjoying a healthy protein shake. All you need are a few basic ideas and you're ready to make your own healthy shake. I wrote this article to help you be able to make them at home.
What makes Healthy shakes popular?
People are becoming more and more conscious of their health and this makes shakes popular. One of the best reasons is the nutrition in a protein shake. Another reason is that people are wanting to lose weight in a healthy manner. Shakes from a fast food restaurant just don't keep you going when you need the energy. Those shakes are very high in sugar and calories and very low in nutrition. Protein powder shake mix needs to have 35-40 grams per serving and not many carbs or sugar if you are looking to lose weight. Protein helps you build lean muscle while the empty sugar calories help you build fat.
What is needed to make a Great Shake?
First find your blender or a shaker cup. Whatever protein powder you've purchased goes in next. Let your taste buds get excited. Add your favorite flavors next to personalize your shake. You can choose simple or go a little exotic. Have fun and try new flavors.
Put 8 ounces of liquid in the blender or shaker cup. Choose what you like best, milk, water, rice milk, almond milk. The flavorings come next. You can start using vanilla, safe choice but adds flavor. Next go for some fruit choices, lemon, strawberry, coconut extracts are some of my favorites. When you're in the grocery store look for some fun choices to try.
One of my favorites is a tropical fruit shake. I find frozen fruit that has no sugar added or fresh if it is in season. Most fruits are about 50 calories a cup which gives you flavor without adding too many calories.
The next ingredient to liven your shake would be a teaspoon to a tablespoon of jello or instant pudding. You can choose between the regular kind and the sugar free, depending on your preferences. Again the calories are minimal and add great flavor. If your blender can crush ice you then can add about a cup of ice cubes and your shake becomes a smoothie. Yum!
Finding the best protein powder and the taste tested recipes is your next step. Look for someone who has experience with healthy shakes.
