This should be a happy time and one to allow friends and family show their excitement for what the graduate has accomplished. It doesn't matter if this is a party for graduation from elementary school, high school, college, or beauty school, it should be a memorable event. The following tips should help in executing the perfect party for your graduate.

In order to make sure that all areas are covered, for this party to be successfully carried out, making a list of what needs to be accomplished is probably the handiest method. As an item on the list is purchased or completed, it can then be crossed off. Not only is this a handy way to make sure that everything is done, but it also feels like things are being accomplished as each task is checked off of the list. These lists work well for people who are already extremely organized.

Even when only a few people are going to attend the graduate's party, invitations are often still sent out. The invitation should have all the necessary information on it; date, time, and location of the party. If the need to RSVP exists, then there should be a phone number available for this section. Additional notes that can be listed on the invite are if food or beverages will be provided and if no gifts are required.

Additional information included might be directions to the house, food situation, or if there is an RSVP request. Getting these out in time to all the guests is important. It's difficult for someone to prepare for a party that is going to happen the very next day.

Choosing decorations can depend on the budget alloted for them, how readily available they are, and even personal choice. Some people prefer to have a simple table display with the food and nothing else, while others go all out and order tons of decorations from the local party store.

Cakes can be purchased at a deli, from a fancy cake decorator, or made from scratch. Most delis need at least 48 hours to get a cake decorated correctly, some might need more time. Well known cake decorators often need a few weeks, especially during the summer when there are a lot of weddings going on.

Even baking a cake at home requires planning ahead. If ordering a cake, be sure to call well in advance. If the cake is going to be home made, make sure all the ingredients are purchased way before the date of the party.

The hardest part to planning a graduation party is making sure that everything goes according to plan. Not all parts of the party may go as planned, so having a back up plan is necessary. For instance, if the party is supposed to be held outdoors, but it begins to rain, an alternate site needs to already be in mind. It's a good idea that the guests already know of this alternate site as well, which can be told to them in their invitation. The weather isn't always willing to cooperate for parties and last minute decisions can be frustrating to guests.
